Meridian and Points 2
Meridian and Points 2 (MERP 1202) builds upon the fundamentals learned in Meridian and Points 1, diving deeper into the study of acupuncture points, their precise locations, functions, indications, needling techniques, and counter-irritation methods. This course focuses on the six main channels (LU – Lung, LI – Large Intestine, ST – Stomach, SP – Spleen, HT – Heart, SI – Small Intestine), as well as two extra vessels. Students will develop the skills to accurately locate acupuncture points using anatomical landmarks and measurements. Point categories will be discussed to provide a comprehensive understanding of each point’s function and indication.
Attendance
Regular attendance is highly recommended. Participation in all course activities and discussions is expected. If you are unable to attend a class, please notify the instructor beforehand if possible.
Passing Mark
Successful completion of this course requires that students achieve a minimum of 60% or higher. All evaluations must be completed and handed in on time for a course grade. Attendance will account for 10% of the final mark.
Learning Objectives

- Comprehend the principles of Yin-Yang theory and the Five Elements (Wu Xing) in TCM.
- Explore the zang-fu organ theories in Chinese medicine.
- Recognize the physiological functions and pathological changes of zang-fu organs.
- Establish connections between zang-fu organs in both normal and pathological states.
Learning Outcomes
- Demonstrate proficiency in locating and needling acupuncture points on the LU, LI, ST, SP, HT, and SI channels, as well as two extra vessels.
- Explain the functions and indications of each acupuncture point covered in the course.
- Safely and effectively apply needling techniques for therapeutic purposes.
- Recognize the concept of counter-irritation and its relevance in acupuncture treatment.
