Intro to Traumatology

TRAM 3100 provides an introduction to orthopedics and traumatology in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). The course covers the basic 16 orthopedic and traumatological conditions outlined by the CTCMPAO for the Pan-Canadian exam. Students will learn about acupuncture, herbal medicine, and formula treatments for these conditions, with a focus on hands-on application.

Attendance

Regular attendance is essential for understanding the material covered in the course. Attendance will be recorded, and participation in hands-on sessions is required.

Passing Mark

To successfully complete the course, students must achieve a minimum passing grade of 60%. Attendance is mandatory, and any absences may affect the final grade.

Learning Objectives

  • Describe the fundamental structure and processes of human cells.
  • Explain the structure and function of various body tissues.
  • Understand the organization of the body’s major systems.
  • Locate key bones, muscles, and blood supply in the head, trunk, and limbs.
  • Describe the range of joint articulation and the role of major muscles in coordinating movement.
  • Identify abdominal and thoracic regions and their corresponding internal structures.
  • Recognize surface anatomical structures essential for locating acupuncture points.
  • Identify local anatomy in areas where acupuncture poses inherent injury risks.
