Integrative Western Medicine Diagnosis
Aims to provide Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) practitioners with a comprehensive understanding of Western medicine diagnosis and treatment approaches. Through this course, students will learn to integrate Western medical concepts with TCM principles to enhance their diagnostic skills and treatment strategies.
Attendance
Attendance is mandatory for all lectures, laboratory sessions, and clinical demonstrations. Active participation in class discussions and activities is encouraged to deepen understanding of Western medical concepts.
Passing Mark
To successfully complete the course, students must achieve a minimum passing grade of 60%. Regular attendance is required, and any absences may affect the final grade.
Learning Objectives
- Identify the purpose of commonly used laboratory tests and diagnostic procedures in Western medicine.
- Recognize abnormal findings in laboratory test results, diagnostic imaging, and physical examinations.
- Understand typical medical and surgical treatments for common diseases from a Western medical perspective.
- Measure vital signs accurately and interpret their significance in patient assessment.
- Conduct relevant non-invasive physical examinations with proficiency and sensitivity.
- Relate biomedical diagnostic and treatment information to TCM diagnosis and treatment principles.
- Understand the relationship between acupuncture and herbal treatment and Western medical concepts.
- Identify the signs, symptoms, therapeutic effects, and adverse effects of common biomedical treatments.
