Pharmacology – PHRM 3101 (60 hours)

This course will introduce students to basic knowledge related to the pharmacological uses of drugs within a variety of commonly encountered medical conditions. This is separated into, Efferent Nervous System, Central Nervous System, Cardiovascular System, Respiration, Gastrointestinal, Hematologic, Uterine, Endocrine Pharmacology and Chemotherapy. It will teach how to identify the therapeutic effects, adverse effects and signs and symptoms of toxicity of commonly used drugs, describe the concepts of pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics, and classify commonly-used drugs from the drug categories according to their pharmacological actions.
